We really love the ocean.....so obviously that was a big reason we chose to come to Mexico! The water was decently warm, and in the mornings we could use the boogie boards and kayaks from the hotel. Several of us took kayaks out and it was fun! But by 11 they wouldn't let you take kayaks anymore, and by 2 they shut down the boogie boards. The water got really choppy in the afternoon, but we still had fun playing in the waves and trying to body surf.
Here's cute Emma, and Whitney jumping in a wave.
Maris and Whitney on boogie boards with Katelyn jumping in a wave, and then Maris on a boogie board.
Maris and Whitney catching it, Kate about to jump, and Owen right behind her trying to get over the crest.
We spent part of each day in the pools and part in the ocean, even on excursion days! We brought our fake GoPro and tried to take some underwater pics haha. Here's Emma with 2 different lifejackets.
The beach bar- we drank SO many smoothies and virgin drinks!! Emma, Owen, Maris and Eric waiting for their latest order.
Here's Emma at dinner in the "American" Restaurant one night- fast asleep! And us on the balcony seating of our favorite restaurant! The Japanese place, we went to it 3 of the 5 nights!! The food was delicious, we ate SO much sushi and edamame and salmon and fried rice and noodles...and they had fried ice cream! Not to mention a great view.
Whitney and Maris in the waves, and Whitney being Whitney haha.
I got to go on a couple of beach runs- it was great as usual!
The kids by a banana tree outside our front door, and Whit stealing my phone for a selfie in our main room.
Emma awake at the Japanese restaurant......and Emma asleep at the Japanese restaurant haha
Emma and Maris with some fun toy story characters who were wandering one day haha. And Maris being zen underwater.
The kids and Eric playing in the pool.
Owen got super muddy one day lol. Also- he got super burnt on his back the first day, I felt so bad. We bought him this shirt and he wore it the rest of the time so it wouldn't get worse.
We had brought a few small sand toys, here's Maris playing.
Whitney catching a wave and Maris heading out- I guess I didn't get pictures of Katelyn or Owen boogie boarding? But they did it and had fun!
I think 3 of the nights we hung out at the beach at sunset. One time Maris and Emma made this cute footprint path.
We got someone to take our picture- but I didn't look at it until later to see that it was so zoomed in! I wanted more background, but oh well.
On Owen's muddy day, he wiggled his feet deep in the sand so he was the same height as his sisters haha. And then Kate and Whitney were trying to do it too. And there's our hotel in the background!
Had to take these pics of the teenagers- they were just standing out there talking. I told them to turn around for a picture and this is what I got haha.
Katelyn and Maris helping Owen get muddy, and me that one time I bought a mango from a beach vendor! He peeled it and cut it up into a pretty flower with his machete, it was awesome. And DELICIOUS!
We spent our last morning hurriedly packing up, so we could have one last beautiful hour on the beach saying goodbye to the ocean. Then we let the kids go on a pesos spending spree at the Oxxo down the street from the hotel, before we got picked up by our van to go to the airport. The trip home was pretty smooth- Emma wanted to sit by Eric and of course fell asleep.

We arrived home to snow, but kept the warmth of Mexico with us until Spring came to Utah! Until next time Mexico!!
