Next Up- Spring Soccer + Whitney turns the big 1-4

In May Emma and I tried to hike the G in Pleasant Grove, because for a while she had been obsessed with the letters on mountains.  It was so pretty up there! More pics in a minute.

Whitney turned 14!!! and requested a sprinkle cake haha.  I think I got enough sprinkles on there right?? She had a couple of friends over on her actual birthday, but saved the big party for a couple of weeks until Grandma and Grandpa opened their pool and she could have a swim party!

Spring soccer for Whitney this year was INTENSE.  Brooklyn our goalie broke her tailbone the 2nd game and was out the rest of the season, Rylee was out hurt for 5 games, Ashelyn had a bad ankle sprain and was out for 3... it was crazy!!  We were able to get a couple of girls to play with us, but we still ended up playing several games with only one sub. And they still managed to win most of their games, it was incredible!  But they were HARD fought games, all of them.
This gnarly bruise on Whitney's knee was actually from her teammate Ruby at practice....yikes!  Those 2 won't back down!
Here's a team pic from the last game- they were in a position to take 2nd in the division if they won (and move up to P2- Premier!), but they lost.  To a team that on paper, they should have beaten. It was heartbreaking! But Whitney scored their only goal in that game, on a corner kick, so that was cool.  They finished the season in 4th, 6W-2L-1T. which is still good, but they were so disappointed.
Emma had fun in Spring sports!  She ran the lollipop race at Owen's track meet. And did well in Jr. Shooters- she is #4 in this pic.

Whitney had to make a model of a Civil War Battle for her history class, and she chose to do an Antietam Pizza!!  It was so cool!!  And she and the class ate it and said it was delicious lol.

Maris graduated from Let's Play Music!!  She did so well writing and performing her original composition- Camping with Pandas- so cute! Here she is getting up after performing (I have a video), and with her good friend Lizzy Ihli, who was in her class for 3rd year. (we had to switch teachers because Ms. Heather didn't have enough students for a 3rd year class.)
Maris getting her prizes from Ms. Amy, a great teacher.
Whitney had her birthday party later in May, and it was FREEZING that day!!  Literally 40 degrees! But the pool was heated, and the sun came out... they made the best of it! We drove 2 cars up to Highland and it was a party. Instead of a cake we had homemade ice cream sandwiches.

And they enjoyed the warm fire!  More pics to come. Here's Todd, Angel, Maddie, Kylie, Sulice, Madi, Morgan, Whit, Ella, and Ryan.
Owen had fun playing soccer without glasses!

Emma was SO excited that she was randomly assigned the number 4, so she could be like Whitney!!  And here she is playing her Jr Shooters Scrimmage.
Whitney and her friends all going down the slide at once haha

Making Italian sodas,
and playing in the playroom!

Maris did Jr. Shooters, played with mostly boys and did great!! She got tougher! and it solidified her decision to try out for Shooters in June. Also she made a cute friend Addie, who ended up making the same teams her. And Emma had fun doing dance! (front middle) She is so flexible and graceful! And pays attention unlike some of the other girls haha.
Owen (middle back) performing with his class in the Dual Immersion end-of-year program.  I love that they learn songs and poems in Spanish!
Italian soda toast at Whitney's party!
and opening presents.
all those crazies in the pool on a freezing May Day!  It was a fun party though.
And 2 more pictures from when me and Emma hiked the G...we didn't make it all the way up because Emma hated that the trail didn't have a fence like the Y trail.  She was scared she was going to fall down the mountain. So once we got close enough to take this picture, I let us turn around.
And in honor of Whitney's birthday, here's a bunch of pictures she had sent to me to print out.  Now I have them in my camera roll, so I thought I'd include them!
