Emma's first half of 2020

Life this year so far can be divided into Before Coronavirus and After the World Shut Down!  Crazy times!  So here's before:
Emma's first time riding her new Christmas bike outside!  And at the Dinosaur Museum, back when we were allowed to go places!

Emma in charge of the song for FHE, cracking up as she waved her arm around.  Of course we were all laughing too!

At Owen's HP birthday party, she was the cutest little Hogwarts student!

On Owen's baptism day.  For weeks before and after she couldn't stop talking about how "Daddy is going to get baptized me.  When I get bigger."

February-March was potty training time for Emma!  For a while I didn't know if it was going to happen, but then suddenly one day (the day after I bought a new huge box of pullups lol) it suddenly clicked!!  She finished her sticker chart, a huge E because she LOVES E for Emma.
And got her prize of going to the jumping place!  Little did we know it would be closed down a couple of weeks later because of COVID.  And her favorite little friend Hailey happened to be there that day, so fun.

She also wrote her name for the first time in February, so cute!! And made a little friend at Owen's basketball class, who she played with every time we went.  It was so cute, she is Miss Social! And now it's weird to look at these pictures and see people sitting so close together haha.

Luckily we did go on one trip before the world shut down- to St George for Whitney's soccer tournament.  It was so fun!  We stayed at a condo with 2 other families and got to swim, and then hung out with the Cravens and went rock climbing on Monday. Emma and Justin are great friends.

Emma loves their puppy, Champ.  And we got to go to the Cedar City temple before the temples closed!
Trying rock climbing!  She looked cute but it didn't go well.
Asleep on the way home.

And then everything stopped mid-March!  ERrc and I decided to take each of the kids on dates to ease the boredom of the weekends.  Emma was first.  She had been talking for weeks about how she wanted to climb a mountain, so that's what we planned for our date. Then on Thursday of the week we were supposed to go, she woke up and decided today was the day!  She was like "I'm not going to sleep tonight until I climbed a mountain!"  So I was like, okay!  Eric was working from home, for like 2 months, so I could leave easily with her and do it.

And we made it to the top of Escalante hill in Spanish Fork!  It was a little sketchy at times (steep) but she did great and I only carried her a couple of times, more because I was nervous than because she needed it.
She was so cute and happy about making it to the top of a mountain. :)

2 weeks into Quarantine, we celebrated Emma's 3rd birthday!  She wanted a Frozen party. :)
Here she is blowing out her candles, before we even stopped singing lol.

Here's her birthday morning, opening presents.

Playing freeze dance at her party, with her only party guest, Uncle Jonathan!

Owen reading to his sisters. :)
Spa day for her birthday with Whitney

Selfies with Mom,(so sad to have my baby turn 3!!!!) and playing pin the nose on Olaf (drawn by Katelyn) It was a fun day.

The week after Emma's birthday was Spring Break, and I decided to plan a bunch of themed days since we couldn't go anywhere or do anything.
We had a crazy snowstorm one day and ended up doing snow painting!
Riding bikes on the River Trail was a huge success, like 3 times in April!

We had a camping day where we watched the old Parent Trap in a tent, went on a hike, and made smores in the garage haha.

We had a playdoh contest with different categories to create something in and you had 5 minutes to do each one
We had a sidewalk chalk day- I bought a HUGE pack and they went to town for hours on our side street!

We had around the world day with a fake plane ride stopping and having a dance party in various countries.  And we had international food and treats that day.
Also we did a LOT of puzzles!!

Random dogpile on Katelyn one day haha.  And Whitney and Emma were a team for Chopped!

Wacky Wednesday- they had to find 12 Wacky things around the house haha.  One was the monkey playing the piano and one was the shoe on the wall of course!

We had a spa day and did one million braids in everyone's hair!

Easter was fun!  Emma loved it.

This was funny- I had left butter out on the counter while making something, and I turned around to see Emma making this exact face- I was like "Emma did you just eat butter??" and she just nodded, so funny!  She straight up took a bike out of a stick of butter.

One Saturday we went to Topaz Mountain, the kids had fun hitting rocks with hammers.

Wearing masks for the first time- still have only worn them a few times.

The only place the kids went for the 6 weeks of quarantine was Grandma's house a couple of times! So much fun. Here she is knocked out on the floor after hours of swimming, and playing with cousin Vivian.
ANd before it was warm enough to swim, we played in the hot tub a few times!

Oh and we played Lego Masters one day, we had 45 minutes to each build a playground.   Emma mostly just played with Legos randomly. :)
Memorial Day we went up to the Logan area to a few cemeteries of Grandma's ancestors, and even got to go in one of their old cabins that has been made into a museum!
We got to see two of Grandpa's ancestors' graves too.

Emma's favorite thing in the museum, a little doll cradle.
Lots of time on our swingset since the parks were closed during quarantine= Emma learned how to pump on the swings!  Earliest of any of our kids!  And here's the kids enjoying the pond park once it re-opened.

Also a big event for Emma, transitioning from naps, has been happening since about April.  It has been rough!  She falls asleep somewhere randomly a couple of times a week haha.  But she's getting used to it, and bedtime is a lot easier since she is actually tired.  I miss naptime a little haha, but with the kids home for so many months anyway it hasn't been too bad for me.  Just a little sad that my baby is growing out of so many things including naps. :(
Fruit forest the first time we got watermelon in May!

Emma at Maris and Katelyn's birthday celebrations.  Carnival party and watercolor painting at the pond.

And that's the first half of Emma's year!
Emma is growing up into a real kid instead of a toddler!

Oh and I forgot I wanted to add a couple of quotes from the last couple of weeks that I actually remembered to write down:

Emma: "It's like the bugs beezing around.  It's like a ring around the rosy with the bugs" (grinning like she knows she just made a joke)
Emma: you didn't got a spoon for me, apparently"
Emma: "FYI mom, I didn't have this anymore"  I couldn't believe she said FYI to me hahaha
