Soccer=Fun

Whitney had such a fun season this year!!  Eric was her coach and we got all her best friends on our team- Damon, Porter, and Tyson.  Porter's Dad, Josh-Eric's friend and boss- volunteered to be the assistant coach.  We had great parents and the kids were all super cute and tried hard.  We didn't have a superstar scorer like we've had other years so we didn't win much, but we made tons of shots on goal and several of the kids got to score.  Whitney improved her stamina a lot over the course of the season, and she's a great defender.  She is really good at following the angle of the ball-- to get in between it and the goal.  And she's not afraid to charge people and kick the ball away.
So here she is playing goalie:

 I LOVE this one: she would stand just like this and kind of jump/hop waiting for the player to shoot it-- I think she watched a lot of World Cup soccer??

 This is Tyson with a worm he rescued from the field, so cute.
 Whitney taking the ball down the field!
 playing defense
 typical- boys were always pushing her and she would push right back!
 LOVE this, this is how she really kicks hard, using her whole body and she kind of jumps in the air!  haha so cute.
 Whitney and Porter
 It was so awesome, her only goal of the whole season was in the last 5 minutes of the last game!!  Here she is after:
 victorious!!  I will post the video I got of the goal later!
We had a great time attending all the games as a family, and Eric loves coaching.  Yay for soccer!

It's that time again...

These cuties have been in school for a month now, my big 1st and 3rd grade girls!  We just had our first parent-teacher conferences and I am SO happy with their teachers this year- they are challenging my girls and they have given me ideas of how I can challenge them= perfect!   They are both bumped up a grade in math, and it's difficult at times but they both enjoy it and I can tell they are kind of proud to get to go to 2nd and 4th grade math.  And I found out at my last School Board Meeting that there are only SEVEN kids in the whole school (of 277) that scored high enough to be moved up a grade in math... and I was secretly cheering inside because 2 of those are mine!!  Eric's like "we didn't do that, they were born smart!" But I'm like "yes we did, we created them!" I was thinking, and all 4 of their grandparents went to college, that's pretty amazing!  My kids have some good genes.
Anyway I'm also proud of them for being good friends; each year Katelyn in particular seems to make friends with whoever's new to the school that year, it's cute.
I'm so grateful that they go to a school where they are safe and happy and enjoy learning.  Oh!  and Katelyn gets to play the flute, they opened the band up to 3rd graders!  Good times.
And lastly, Whitney tested at a 2nd grade, 2nd month reading level, and Katelyn tested at a 6th grade 4th month reading level. :)
