We and Kurtis finally talked Mary and Brad into going to Lake Powell this summer!!! Eric and I had NEVER been and had always wanted to go, and the stars aligned to do it on my 40th birthday! It was so much fun. Here's a gorgeous sunrise in St. George on the morning I turned 40. I got up early to go running before we left for Powell.
Our first activity was a boat tour on the Colorado River below the Glen Canyon Dam. It was very cool! Here's a picture of cute Emma and Xavier, who wanted to sit together on the bus ride. They talked the whole time and it was HILARIOUS! This is a screen shot from the video I took, it was SO cute to see them bonding! They are a year and a half apart, so Emma is closer in age to him than any of her siblings. We were so glad Xav and Jayda came with Grandma and Grandpa, they made the trip way more fun!
We took a bus through a tunnel to the bottom of the Dam! And then we had to wear hard hats to walk to the boat launch. Everyone looked pretty cute!I got to take LOTS of cute pictures on the ride!
The boys!
Panoramic picture of Horseshoe Bend!
The girls appreciating the scenery, and Eric with his old lady wife haha. He loves to tease me about being 3 weeks older than him. So that day I was 40 and he was still only 39!
Halfway down the stretch of river we got to tour, we stopped to see petroglyphs and swim. It was HOT and the water was ICE!
My fam plus Jayda! The petroglyphs were cool. Swimming pictures at the end.
Xavier, Grandma, Jayda, and Grandpa.
Happy family in the canyon!! One of our happy places!
Cool books and arch, and cuties down the middle of the boat.
Such a lovely afternoon on the river!
By the end of the ride they weren’t afraid to be on the edges of the boat, sticking their feet in the water!
We caught a glimpse of the wild horses that live in Glen Canyon!
Okay this was awesome- I caught Jayda’s face when she came up from the COLD water! It felt good in the heat but was still shocking!
Nature is wonderful! Look at that clear beautiful water!
It was an awesome tour and I’m glad we got to do it!
