Glimpses of Summer— Time well spent!!

A few more glimpses of summer.  A cute picture Whitney took of Maris at the pond.  And the river after a storm one day while I was running- it looked like chocolate milk!

A gorgeous picture Whitney took at Lake Powell!

Another one by Whitney- of Emma at the PCC temple. And me and Emma living it up at the Provo Rec Center during the first week of school before kindergarten started!

While K&W were at FSY, I took the younger 3 kids to This is the Place Park!  We hadn't been in years so I wanted them to have the chance to enjoy it. Here's Maris and Emma on the pony ride.
Katelyn doing art class #2 with the kids- painting the clay vases/pots they made a few weeks before.
We went to the SF reservoir one day.
On Jonathan's birthday I made him a cake- chocolate with cookie dough frosting!  And we went and ate it at a park in Provo. Also super exciting was that he got a new job-- at Beehive clothing, the factory in American Fork where they make garments!  Eric had seen a job listing in an email to bishoprics, and I helped him apply and get an interview.  Then he did the rest and finally got to stop working at Wendy's after almost 5 years!  It has been awesome for him.
And here was Owen when we stayed one night in St. George before going to Lake Powell- he had to take a creative picture with his soccer ball for a team contest.  In the month of July he did 30,000 touches with his soccer ball! I was so proud of him- he started out only doing like 200 a day, he didn't really care about the contest.  But after a week he decided to challenge himself to so 100 more a day until he got up to the suggested amount of 1,000 a day. Once he got there, he figured out how many extra he would have to do to make up for the ones he missed in the beginning.  He ended up doing 2,000 touches a day for the last week of July- it was impressive!  And it made a difference! In the fall season he showed WAY more confidence with the ball. Because it had touched his feet 30,000+ times that summer! I was just happy that he DECIDED to do it himself, and did it with no reminders (nagging) from me!
A morning run pic of Maple Mountain.
More of the kids at This is the Place Park- doing pioneer chores and trying to walk on stilts.

Us at the monument. I'm glad we went!
Whitney when I dropped her off for FSY!  I didn't get a picture of Katelyn! They were there the same week but didn't really see each other. I am SO SO grateful that the church is doing FSY! Whitney thought it was the best thing ever and she didn't want to come home. She told us after, that she wanted to have that feeling forever. It was such a cool experience to talk to her about it and feel the strong spirit she brought home with her.
Katelyn had a hard time the first couple of days, she doesn't love to be social for long periods of time!  But  she stuck it out and ended up having tons of fun the last couple of days- with awesome, righteous kids. One of the best things that came out of that week for her was the realization that college will be fun! But of course she loved the spirit there too.
Whitney's gorgeous picture that made it into the Salem city calendar!
And another of my sunrise running pictures- a version of this made it into the Salem Calendar as well!
And lastly, a sunset picture I took from our porch. It's cool when the sun sets that far North!
