Changes

A couple more pictures from our fall camping trip.  We stayed in Kodachrome State Park, it was cool but small.  Here's the hike we went on.

Meanwhile back at home, Whitney and Eric had their last soccer practice of the summer/fall.  It was a long haul but it felt SO good after the cancelled spring!  Look at these cute girls!  They are all just adorable and hilarious together.  It's so cool seeing them grow up together, and develop as players together.
(numbers are how many years they have been on the team)
Courtney(5), Ruby(4), Brooklyn(3), Rylee(2), Avary(1), Ashelyn(1), Whitney(5), Eric (4 as coach)
Abigail(3), Lilley(1), Layla(5), Megan(5), Camille(5), Taizley(1). Missing Halle(2).
Emma with her cute dance class on halloween week.

And this.  before Thanksgiving, President Nelson asked everyone to post with #givethanks for 7 days before the holiday, and "flood social media with goodness". I hadn't posted on facebook or instagram in 2 years!  But I decided to do it.  It was really fun. Here was one of my posts, minus the picture of Katelyn. It's in the theater post. And the Emma one in the slot canyon post.

One thing I’m trying to teach my kids is that they can do hard things. This fall they have been blowing me away with their determination! 1-Emma had a bit of a panic attack in a slot canyon last month, we had no idea she was claustrophobic! But we were able to talk her through it, and she timidly went into the next one and ended up loving it! 2-Maris struggled in preschool with learning letters, and in kindergarten she was barely on grade level. But we worked hard during quarantine and over the summer, and she has an AMAZING first grade teacher, and she has just taken off into 2nd grade level reading! I’m so proud of her determination and humility, she is my most teachable child. ❤️ 3-Owen is in the hardest year of Dual Immersion. His Spanish teacher is very demanding but also adores her students and makes them believe they can do anything! She is phenomenal. And Owen has risen to the challenge- his first few Spanish writing assignments brought him to tears and took 2 hours to complete. But now he gets them done confidently in under an hour. I’m so proud of him for not giving up and being so responsible with his work. 4-I’ve tried to convince Whitney to play Club Basketball for 2 years, but she was nervous. This fall she went for it and has worked so hard and learned SO much in the month before sports shut down in Utah. She has been out every day dribbling and shooting and we hope the season can pick back up soon! Whitney is so good at pushing herself to improve, I love it.🏀 5-Katelyn got an ensemble role in Shrek the Musical at school (I have a high schooler??!?), and the first couple weeks were SO frustrating trying to learn the alto part spread out 6 feet apart in the auditorium wearing masks! 😷 But she stuck with it and ended up loving the show. I’m so proud of her for being brave enough to volunteer to learn the harmony part! She is awesome. Watching my kids grow brings so much joy. #givethanks

Side note: I had fun reconnecting with a few people because I posted.  But I haven't posted since the 7 days, I just don't want to make time for it!

So here's Owen doing his homework.  he works hard everyday with no prompting from me.
Whit looking great in basketball and Emma playing volleyball with Eric.

Maris reading and Owen doing homework again.

Cute Emma and Hailey painting on toast with food-colored milk!
Maris on her tiny toddler bed, and Emma in her crib-with-the-side-off,and then with their new bunkbed!! Finally!  I love how much space it gives them in their room.

More basketball for Whit.  Her team ended up getting 5 games for the fall season, and they only lost one!  So, her coach knows what he is doing. She feels like she still has a lot to learn, but she is doing great!
More Emma and volleyball. Oh and she has purple hair because it's the day after Halloween in this picture.

The completed toast.

Last game of the fall!  Whitney got to score a goal from the field finally! She had one in the summer but it was a PK.
Whit and Megan waiting on defense, and Whit dribbling.

Oh and one more serious pic.
team party!

And we are moving on into winter!
