This post is backwards, but it's okay. So here's Owen, Maris and Emma at Carthage Jail on our way back to the airport at St. Louis.
Here's our other kind of transportation- by animal! We went on this carriage ride through Nauvoo on our last morning, so we had already been to all the sights. But it was cool to go through it all one more time, and for me, say thank you and goodbye!
We also did the shorter Ox Cart ride on the last morning! The missionaries were all just so awesome. They made everything fun.
One picture I forgot from our Airbnb- Emma in this hallway that ran the length of the apartment, with doors going into each room and ending in the main living space. Interesting!
On Sunday we went to church and then went around to a bunch more sights. Here's the Red Brick Store,
and the Homestead. All the JS sights were closed because the Community of Christ doesn't have the missionary force to man them more than 3 days a week.
The visitor's center in Nauvoo was open longer than the historical sights on Sunday, so we went there after everything else closed. It was cool! We especially loved the mini model of the inside of the temple.
And the mini model of nauvoo and surrounding areas.
Here are the kids enjoying the 2-seater outhouse haha!
Emma in a cute little kids room in the Sarah Granger Kimball house- we really liked that one too. And Owen shooting into the field by the SGK home- with the temple up in the background.
The Cultural hall! Of course I had to get a pic of Katelyn onstage. And a cabin- pretending we lived there cooped up together all the time!!
And of course we spent a couple of hours in the Family Living Center- carding wool...making rope and candles....
and making buckets!
So fun. Also Whitney with some sweet pineapple wallpaper.
This was a new exhibit- after my time at the Academy, since it was on old Academy property right by the temple. The kids enjoyed learning about how the temple was built and trying to hammer and heft stone!
And lastly, I made them take pictures at 2 locations where their ancestors lived and died!! L: at the cemetery where we have at least one ancestor buried. R: near the plot of land once owned by Eric's ancestor.
