Boating, Tubing, Kneeboarding, Swimming…in warm water!!

First here's one more I missed of the boat tour, us 7 plus cuties Jayda and Xavier in the freezing river!
And on to the rest of the post....
Can I just say that boating is INFINITELY more fun when the water is warm?? It was the best thing ever!!  Here's Maris and Katelyn on the tube, and Kate and Owen.

Kurtis, Eric and Emma.
This was the very first time we stopped the boat and all jumped out and climbed back in a few times, swam around a bit, then kept driving.  Repeat many times!  It was SO much fun!!
One of those times, we were in a little cove and we had it all to ourselves for over an hour. We swam over to the side where there was this little ledge and played on it forever! climbing up rocks nearby and jumping off, watching Grandpa climb way high and jump!  It was a great spot. Here's the whole crew minus Grandma and Grandpa.
Mary took this picture of us lovely ladies- Lauren, me, Whit and Kate.
These three were HILARIOUS on the tube together! yelling and laughing...

and Xavier making up his own signs for things, instead of the typical faster, slower, and stop signals. He is a crack up!  You can see Maris trying to get him to stop haha. And here they are staked out in their spot in the front of the boat, usually with Owen too, loving riding the bumpy parts! And you can see all the house boats tied up in the background.
It was all fun and games until that one time Eric got hit by the kneeboard when he fell off...and came up bleeding!  I took him to get stitches, yikes! He was so annoyed that we had to end the lake time early that day because of him.
enjoying the ride!
That one time Emma fell asleep in a weird position!  We covered her up so her back wouldn't burn.
Katelyn and Emma enjoying some breakfast in our room!  The first night we had an ant fiasco, but after that the hotel was great!
Emma and Lauren were buddies! And Owen with a huge smile when he got up on the kneeboard!
All the kiddos up in the front.

Screen shot from a video Mary took- Owen, Xav, Maris and Jayda were basically acting like they were on a roller coaster, it was hilarious! Screaming and laughing with their hands in the air.
Owen and then Jayda, kneeboarding.

Maris kneeboarding!  and Owen Kate and Whitney out for a swim.
Me and my Maris living it up in the sunshine!
More cheesers on the boat!

All 7 of the kids!
relaxing on a calm spot.
Me and my Emma!! Silly girl was afraid to jump off the boat...or go on the tube. We bribed her to jump off ONE time but that was it.  She seemed to enjoy the boat rides well enough though.
these 4 playing on the beach.
This kid. was made for this!  He had such a great time!
There was a lot of this....
pointing out things along the way!
Favorite aunt and uncle status! Kurtis' long hair though....it was out of control on that trip haha
One more of these 3 with the pretty cliffs behind.
And a rare pic of Grandma out for a swim with Maris!
I'd say Lake Powell lived up to the hype!

Lake Powell at last!!!!! Day 1- Horseshoe Bend Tour

We and Kurtis finally talked Mary and Brad into going to Lake Powell this summer!!! Eric and I had NEVER been and had always wanted to go, and the stars aligned to do it on my 40th birthday!  It was so much fun.  Here's a gorgeous sunrise in St. George on the morning I turned 40.  I got up early to go running before we left for Powell.

Our first activity was a boat tour on the Colorado River below the Glen Canyon Dam. It was very cool!  Here's a picture of cute Emma and Xavier, who wanted to sit together on the bus ride. They talked the whole time and it was HILARIOUS! This is a screen shot from the video I took, it was SO cute to see them bonding! They are a year and a half apart, so Emma is closer in age to him than any of her siblings. We were so glad Xav and Jayda came with Grandma and Grandpa, they made the trip way more fun!
We took a bus through a tunnel to the bottom of the Dam!  And then we had to wear hard hats to walk to the boat launch. Everyone looked pretty cute!
I got to take LOTS of cute pictures on the ride!

The boys!
Panoramic picture of Horseshoe Bend!
The girls appreciating the scenery, and Eric with his old lady wife haha. He loves to tease me about being 3 weeks older than him.  So that day I was 40 and he was still only 39!
Halfway down the stretch of river we got to tour, we stopped to see petroglyphs and swim. It was HOT and the water was ICE!
My fam plus Jayda! The petroglyphs were cool. Swimming pictures at the end.
This was called "the Library"- you can see books on either side of the river.
Xavier, Grandma, Jayda, and Grandpa.
Happy family in the canyon!! One of our happy places!
Cool books and arch, and cuties down the middle of the boat.

Such a lovely afternoon on the river!

By the end of the ride they weren’t afraid to be on the edges of the boat, sticking their feet in the water!

We caught a glimpse of the wild horses that live in Glen Canyon!

Okay this was awesome- I caught Jayda’s face when she came up from the COLD water! It felt good in the heat but was still shocking!
Nature is wonderful! Look at that clear beautiful water!
It was an awesome tour and I’m glad we got to do it!
