Beautiful Zion.

I am kind of obsessed with this place.  Ever since last summer when Eric and I did the whole overnight Narrows Hike from the top down, I have wanted to go back!  Also I've been dying to go camping all summer, as Eric went like 7 times.  So I was really happy about this little camping trip in Zion National Park before we went down to St. George for my Grammy's funeral/big Hansen party reunion thing!

So here we are on the bus to the Narrows Hike.  We decided to take the kids to the bottom and hike up at least a little ways so they could experience it.  River hiking is so neat!  We knew we wouldn't make it up to any of the coolest parts of the Narrows, but it would still be beautiful and fun.
And we borrowed a baby carrier for this little one.
The first mile the canyon is wider so there's a trail.
And then the trail ends and it's time to step into the water!
 Getting our shoes wet!
Owen couldn't quite handle balancing on round rocks, so he was carried most of the way.
The girls were up to their knees a lot!
 So awesome.
Owen did walk some of the sandy parts.
This was probably the most narrow part we went through- we were only in the river for a half mile or so.
 I love this scenery!

Maris slept most of the way to the soothing sounds of the river. :)
back at camp we donned warmer clothes
and the kids "helped" Dad with the tent while I made dinner.

The girls and Eric ended up sleeping under the stars-- I will add a picture of that when I get it off of Eric's phone!
The next morning we cleaned up camp, watched some deer frolicking nearby, and explored the river near our campsite.  The girls found what they called "quicksand", it was fun to sink into!

Meanwhile Owen threw rocks into the river, and of course eventually fell in, ending our river time.

 cool sand formation
With Katelyn sunk down into the mud, Whitney was as tall as her, and they thought it was hilarious.
Soon after this we left Zion for St. George and the rest of our fun weekend!
