….even the BIG field trips!!

Shakespeare Competition October 2023. Southern Utah University. I was an official Driver and Chaperone. (we had Mae, Clover, and Bee with me and Kate in the car. ) So glad I did this. Chaperoning teenagers is actually so fun. And being with Katelyn in all the rounds of the competition- such a cool and memorable experience.

Here's the whole Shakespeare team's funny picture.

And serious picture.  Katelyn is front middle.
In SUU's replica of the Globe Theater!  It is so cool!  We got to watch the showcase there. It was hilarious because there was a cute college guy in the background from the play we had seen the night before- and ALL these high school girls started going up to him and asking for pictures and autographs.
Katelyn got to be scene partners with Miles and Jacob. They did a scene from Henry V, but as a Dungeons and Dragons game. It was HILARIOUS!
Miles was in love with Katelyn
and tried to get jacob's character to help his character woo her character.

I loved it.  But the judges didn't really appreciate any of our school's Shakespeare time/situation swaps. It was kind of lame; those are so much more interesting than anything but the most well-done period pieces.
Katelyn also got to compete in the tech Olympics, it was very cool!
And held in this super Great Hall HP type room.
The team after their Henry VIII performance.
The cast with masks, and the whole team later.
The cast without masks. The 6 wives are on the front row, starting with Katelyn.
Katelyn did amazing!  Here she's getting ready to start, and gossiping with the ladies in waiting.
Team circle before the show.  And kate in her costume.
This was a new experience- she got to compete in the Dance category!  Clover choreographed a dance about a gender-swapped Richard III.
Katelyn has limited dance training and she's never competed in it before- I think she enjoyed it and I loved it! It was fun to see her getting to be expressive in that way.
The dancers- Mae, Katelyn, Sulice, Clover, Bee, Annica and Andrea.
Dinnertime at the giant rental house!  I was in charge of this one- Hawaiian haystacks. It was a success.
And I helped with Breakfast one of the mornings.
We got to see...Twelfth Night?  I think!  It was a comedy, very well done. On their open air stage!
Cute Katelyn, Miles, and Jacob ready to rock it!
Another pic of the setup for dinner.
And two more pictures from the showcase- Katelyn getting to play being married to Sean.
So glad I got to experience the magic and drama and fun of Shakespeare Competition!
