ah, the beach...

I love the beach.  Because I'm a true California girl?  Or because EVERYBODY loves the beach?  How could you not love sun and waves and palm trees, even if you don't love sand and saltwater (like Eric!)? We were happy to be able to spend time at the beach this time around, since when we went to Hawaii when Kate was 2 she was deathly afraid of the ocean and would scream if we even went out on to the sand. :)
Owen, on the other hand, loves the beach!
He was usually more interested in digging in the sand than playing in the water though!
But he did get in a few times.  He actually enjoyed getting knocked over by waves!
Me and my Owen.
Kate has gotten over her fear and now enjoys the ocean!  Katelyn and Kurtis swimming:

 Whitney and Eric

the girls letting the waves bring them in

 Whitney buried!
all three of them actually working together on a sand creation without fighting...
Until Owen stepped on it- look he's about to do it!
Owen and Cleo at the beach!
Cleo loves to give Owen kisses, and he usually put up with it!
Me and Cortnee with our babies- Ryan took this and he got splashed by a wave so there was water on the lens and it made Cort all blurry- it looks so funny!
 Kate burying herself

Grandma and Grandpa at the beach
 Owen lovin' it
 Kurtis with his music
Owen refusing to look at Grandma's camera- as usual!
katelyn loves her goggles,          and owen loves his mom :)  he was hugging me really tight in this picture!
 Whitney running in the waves
 and getting thrown by Eric

 or dunked by Eric!
taking a breather and spitting out salt water- yuck!

And I had to add a couple more of the pool I stole from Elizabeth's facebook.
Owen "swimming"
the girls and their sand castle                                              and Katelyn actually swimming
Kjarom and Katelyn playing one of their games!
Aunt Elizabeth and Whitney. :)

Also Eric and I did a little body surfing- the waves weren't big enough to warrant renting a boogie board- and it was pretty fun!  I actually caught a couple of them, and I remembered how addicting it is!  When you're out there in the water watching each wave to see if it might be a good one, and then you think it is so you get ready and jump and swim hard, man it is so fun. :)  I will be going back to many beaches in my lifetime!!!
