keeping a promise

Well, I'm finally doing it. Starting a blog! Thanks to everyone who set the example and urged me (Kristi) to do it, here we are. My first exciting post is going to be a video of our house for everyone to see, but I want to wait and see if I can talk Eric into buying paint this weekend so we can paint a couple of rooms first.

So for this post I'll just describe something Katelyn said to me yesterday. I was eating breakfast and she was doing something, and she came up to me and said "ah-moh?" meaning "almost", and I said "yes, I'm almost done" and she nodded and walked away satisfied. I think that qualifies as our first real conversation! I have no idea why she decided a few days ago to learn how to say "almost", but she usually just copies things we say when we say them, not out of the blue. So to have her come up to me and ask me a question, wow! that was cool. And such is the life of a mother, excited about small things :)

The new words she tried to say today were open and closed. She doesn't have them down yet, but she's pretty good with "op-ah".

Well, Katelyn's waking up soon probably, so I'd better finish while I can.
Oh, and the picture is Katelyn "helping" me make dinner aka eating all the broccoli- like I was going to stop her from eating a vegetable to her heart's content!

  2. That is so great! I love having conversations with James...most of the time. But I am always glad he can talk and tell me what he is thinking. Exciting!

  3. I'm so jealous that Katelyn likes Broccoli... my kids won't eat it. They like other veggies, but not broccoli. Any tips on how you got her to like it?? Very fun to have such a great helper making dinner! Ü
